Mission Heights Primary School. We have all started school this year and we are having
great fun getting to know each other and learning lots of new things. We hope you will

Whenua Studio Music

We love going to visit Mrs Boggs' classroom on Friday mornings. We get to sing songs, play games and play instruments. We are learning to listen and follow rhythms as we play along to different songs and to play loud, quietly, slowly and fast. Sometimes (if we are really good) we get to play musical statues at the end. We have to dance around while Mrs Boggs plays music on her keyboard and then when the music stops we have to freeze standing on one leg and with our arms folded! It is very tricky!

In LZ16 we love the story : Harry The Dirty Dog. Do you like our pictures?

Harmeet's Teddy Bear

LZ18 have enjoyed reading this online big book this week. We tried to remember all of the different parts of the story and to put the pictures in order to make a story board. We have been writing our own sentences to match the pictures which we will put together to make a class book.
Click on these links to access the story and the sequencing activity (click the play button and then close the front page to access the activities - they can take a little while to load!)

Autumn Leaves

This afternoon LZ18 enjoyed visiting the Art Room with our buddy class LZ11. We looked at some photographs of trees in autumn as well as some leaves collected from around our school grounds. We all chose a leaf to draw and looked closely at the colours and the shape of the leaf. It was interesting to see the different colours and patterns in the leaves.

Just Keep Trying

LZ16 have been reading the story 'Just Keep Trying'. It was about a boy who was learning lots of new things. At first he found them really hard and he wanted to give up but once he kept trying and trying he could do them! We wrote sentences and drew pictures to show things that we have learned to do.

Please click on each picture to enlarge.

Machines are everywhere!

In LZ18 we have been talking about machines that we see and use in our everyday lives. We made a list of machines that we already know and we each made a poster about a machine. We used google to search for pictures of the machines and then drew our own pictures. We talked and wrote about how each of the machines can help us. We hope you like them!

Please click on each poster to enlarge it and to read our sentences.

Machines are things that help us.

We can find machines in the kitchen, on a farm, on the grass or at school.

Some machines we know are:
a rocket,
a computer,
a motorbike,
a train,
a helicopter,
a mixer,
a robot,
a boat,
a digger,
an oven,
a monster truck,
a racing car,
and a clock.
